Chondromalacia is a term used for knee injury and pain under the knee cap. You may strengthen and stretch certain muscles to influence the tracking of your knee cap.  The inside muscle of the quadriceps is the vastus medialis. This is activated when your knee is tightened in the straight position. That is why straight leg raising with leg weights are very beneficial for knee injury and Chondromalacia pain.

Tendinitis, Paratendinitis and Tendinosis Of all the overuse problems associated with knee injury, knee tendinitis is among the most common. In the past, all conditions have been termed tendinitis and treated accordingly-cramps, spasm and leg aches. There now are several different pathological entities. These are: tendinitis, paratendinitis, tendinosis, partial and complete rupture.

Tendinitis is a catch term for inflammation of the tendon itself from a knee injury, and can often co-exist with paratendinitis causing all the symptoms of knee pain, cramps, spasm and aches.

The cause of tendinitis usually results from microscopic tears within the tendon and triggering an inflammatory response within the tendon. Common areas susceptible to tendinitis are; achilles, patella, adductor longus, supraspinatus, biceps, tibialis posterior and flexor hallucis longus tendons.

Treatment, this is a common problem and you should seek advice from your doctor or Osteopath.
